You know what they say: “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” At WFCC, we like to think of it more as lemonaid –we’ve sprinkled this recipe with ingredients that pack a double punch of both health boosting benefits and naturally zesty flavour.
Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, boosts immunity, and can help balance hormones
Ginger is also anti-inflammatory, great for boosting immunity, and adds a gentle spicy zing
Coconut water contains electrolytes and natural sweetness (no need for refined sugar!)
-1 cup lemon juice (we recommend freshly squeezed!)
-2 cups coconut water (with or without pulp, based on preference)
-4 inches fresh turmeric, peeled (note: turmeric stains. You may want gloves for this.)
-2 inches fresh ginger, peeled
-optional: 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon honey (add more based on preference)
-optional: ice cubes
-optional: a dusting of cinnamon
Pour contents into a high speed blender until smooth consistency forms.
Enjoy cold over ice with a fresh slice of lemon for a refreshing pick-me-up during the warmer months. To take this recipe into fall and winter, pour contents into a small pot, warming on a stovetop over medium heat until desired temperature reached. Serve in your favourite mug and for an extra seasonal touch, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon. No matter what time of year you’re enjoying this recipe, be sure to consume immediately.
