Exercise for Every Age

Exercise for Every Age at Womens Fitness Clubs of Canada

Aging is inevitable and our bodies change as they grow older; however, advancing age needn’t stop you from exercising.

It’s true that your workout may need adjusted to match your fitness level and abilities, and at Womens Fitness Clubs of Canada, we’ll help put together the perfect physical fitness program for every age.

Here’s how it works.

  • For women in their 20s and 30s, regular exercise lays the foundation for wellbeing in later years. High intensity workouts rev the metabolism to consume calories, burn fat and build muscles.

Our health clubs offer specialty programs such as TribeFitTM, exciting team training classes that propel you to get fitter, faster. Or try kickboxing for a full-body workout that ignites muscles for new strength and tone. There’s the challenge of H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) and 20-minute circuit training.

  • With mid-life and decreasing hormone levels, women in their 40s and 50s may experience changes in joints, stamina and strength. Regular exercise is essential to heart health, bone strength and overall wellness.

Cardio training is key, and with single station treadmills, cycles and ellipticals, accelerating your heart rate will boost metabolism and promote fitness and weight loss. Weight-bearing exercises protect bones against osteoporosis.

Work out with a group class or on your own – or enjoy the attention of a personal trainer who can assess your fitness and help you create an effective workout routine you’ll enjoy.

  • Women in their 60s and older may experience the joint pain and stiffness of arthritis, fragile bones due to osteoporosis or general muscle weakness. Weight bearing and resistance exercises are important, and so is cardio. Walk at your own pace on a treadmill or enjoy the measured movements of Yoga or Pilates.

Every age brings its challenges. Developing good exercise and nutrition habits at a young age are the building blocks for health and fitness over the years.

However, don’t let age or years of physical inactivity be an excuse. It’s never too late to care for your body, and our gym offers the services and amenities you need to get moving — no matter how slow or low impact that may be.

As always, before beginning any exercise program, always check with your physician — especially if you are overweight, have an existing medical condition or have been sedentary for a while.
