New Guest Feature: Jenn’s Journey to Fitness!

We’re very excited to introduce our brand-new blog feature: Jenn’s Journey!

Womens Fitness Clubs of Canada member Jenn works for Moms’ Town, an organization that connects mothers all over Canada. And she’s also working on herself and her level of fitness, with the amazing WFCC team!

In her own words:

Hello, my name is Jenn. I am a work from home mom who has a 3 and 5 year old. My fitness level is… nonexistent!

I joined Women’s Fitness and wanted to make a change in my health because I learned one of my dearest friends had breast cancer. When she began the fight of her life, she was already fit and lean and ready to fight. I realized that if I were in the same situation, I wouldn’t have been! I want to be around to watch my kids get married & have kids.

I am working with WFCC personal trainer Antonette twice a week, and with Mona, WFCC’s Holistic Nutritionist, once a week.

Read on for the first six weeks of Jenn’s journey – and keep checking the blog every two weeks for more installments!

Week 2:

Antonette, Jenn's personal trainer at WFCC Burlington!

Antonette has been so informative and helpful with this “weight machine newbie”. I’ve tried to spend every moment with her just soaking it all in and working hard.

I LOVE that Antonette makes me accountable and gives me homework after each workout. I know, when I step into the gym without her, what I have to do. It’s not “can you come to the gym?” It’s “When you come to the gym…”

Did my first full body workout hurt? You bet!  But if I could have done this on my own, I would have by now.

Week 4:

Week 4 has just finished and I can’t believe how much has already changed!

I’ve thrown out 4 pairs of jeans already because they are too big, my skin looks better than it has in years, I can’t believe how great I am sleeping and I am actually enjoying my time at the gym!

Even when I go to the gym without Antonette, I have confidence. I remember the little tips that Antonette has given me during my training sessions. It’s just like having her on my shoulder every time I train!

Week 6:

Week 6 is done and I’m on cloud nine! I just finished my first weigh-in and measurements. I’ve lost 6 lbs and 10 inches in 6 weeks! I lost inches on every part of body. (Except my calves – but I actually think they look better than before.) My resting heart beat has dropped by 7 beats per minute and my shoulder, which 6 weeks ago used to slump forward and down, is hardly noticeably in my 6 week photo, thanks to Antonette!

I spent the last 6 weeks focusing on me… making time to train at the gym, prepping meals in my kitchen so I can stay on track with my diet plan and trying on all my “skinny” clothes in my wardrobe. I’m excited to continue on my journey, and see what this next phase of training will bring. I’ve learned to trust myself, trust my trainer and trust my clothes, not the scales to tell me that I’m getting healthier!

Stay tuned for more installments of Jenn’s Journey in the coming weeks!
