WFCC is pleased to announce that certified nutritionist Kelly Thomson has joined the team at WFCC Pickering!
Areas of Practice:
By utilizing nutrient dense foods and employing various lifestyle approaches, I coach others how to optimize their health encouraging long-term weight management. My goal is to empower others to take control of their journey by sharing knowledge enabling them to be an active player in the process.
Experience:
Pre- Women’s Fitness, I lost and re-gained 50 pounds three times while being a member of the “Weight Watcher Program”. When I was about to re-join for a fourth time, my WFCC Personal Trainer encouraged me to consider a different approach by focusing on natural unprocessed foods instead of repeating a program that had not delivered long-term success for me. Her idea seemed reasonable and inspired me to become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist. Upon graduating with first class honours, I earned a designation from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. I am proud to say since gaining knowledge of the power that food and lifestyle has on one’s health, I have once again lost 50 pounds. However, I have done so this time by “creating a healthful lifestyle” that supports not only achieving, but more importantly maintaining optimal weight management versus “joining” a weight loss program that lacks the exchange of knowledge needed for long-term results.
Philosophy of Practice:
My discipline is based on a holistic approach. My philosophy nourishes the body, mind and soul to achieve an internal balance, optimal health and sustainable long-term weight management. Everyone benefits from combining proper nutrition with appropriate lifestyle strategies. Needless to say, my training has taken my understanding of the saying “You are what you eat,” to a whole new level. It would be an honour to share my knowledge with you so you can take your health to a whole new level!
